Planning permission was granted by Nottingham City Council in early 2026 for a new five-court padel leisure complex on Redfield Way, next to a Showcase cinema. The venture is co-founded by James Taylor — former England cricketer and England selector — alongside Nottingham hotelier Richard Johal and Rob Darby, founder of 200 Degrees Coffee.
Taylor, whose Instagram bio reads “padel addict,” has been photographed playing at Pure Padel Nottingham in Corcuera kit. Padelplex will feature five covered outdoor courts alongside a hospitality pavilion with a snack bar, indoor seating and changing facilities.
